Seeking a Collaborative Divorce Attorney

Much of what you will need to know and ask about for the collaborative divorce attorney will be the same as for a regular attorney.

The main difference here in this relatively new area of divorce support is that the spouses are in agreement that they wish to proceed amicably. Since both parties cooperate in furnishing and sharing all needed information regarding finances, assets, custody, support, alimony, assets, and debts, typically far less time—and money—is spent coming to a mutual agreement.

An amicable divorce like this is the ideal situation and for many people, this method works well. Usually, at the outset of negotiations, both attorneys and spouses sign a written agreement stating that if a mutual agreement is not able to be reached or contentions arise, that the attorneys involved will withdraw, leaving the spouses to hire lawyers more experienced in litigious proceedings.
